Privacy policy

This page explains what information this website handles and why. It is written in plain language.

When you browse this website

This website itself sets no cookies, but it stores one small record of your cookie choice in your browser. It does load two small scripts from other companies: Google's tag, which runs on every page and is used for our advertising and for website statistics (Google Analytics), and the security check on the enquiry form, which only runs where the form appears. Both are explained below.

Like any website, the service that delivers its pages to you handles technical data such as your IP address in order to deliver and protect the site. This website is delivered and protected by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as your IP address as part of its global content-delivery and security network, and retains it only for as long as needed for those technical purposes, under Cloudflare's own privacy policy.

Google advertising

We advertise on Google. To measure whether our ads work, every page of this website loads Google's advertising tag. Google's advertising cookies and similar storage in your browser are used only after you press Accept on the cookie notice. After you press Accept, Google may set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser and receive technical details such as your IP address, your browser type and the pages you visit, so that it can tell whether a visitor who arrived from one of our ads went on to tap a WhatsApp button or send the enquiry form. Before you press Accept, the tag is told that you have not agreed: it sets no cookies and uses no storage in your browser, but it may still receive basic technical details of the request, such as your IP address and the page address. Google handles that information under its own privacy policy and terms.

We do not send Google your name, phone number, e-mail address or anything you write in the form or in WhatsApp. You can also manage the ads you see in the ad settings of your Google account. How to withdraw your consent is explained under “Google Analytics” below.

Google Analytics

We also use Google Analytics to count visits and to see which pages lead to enquiries, so that we can improve this website. It runs through the same Google tag as our advertising. Google Analytics cookies and similar storage in your browser are used only after you press Accept; before that, Google Analytics is told that you have not agreed and sets no cookies. After you press Accept, Google may set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser and receive technical details such as your IP address, your browser and device type, the pages you visit (including the page address, which can contain what you searched for or chose to compare) and how you arrived at the website. When you tap a WhatsApp, e-mail or phone link, or send the enquiry form, we record in Analytics only that this happened and the kind of page it happened on (for example, a university or course page), never your name, e-mail address, phone number or message text. Google handles that information under its own privacy policy and terms.

We do not send Google Analytics your name, phone number, e-mail address or anything you write in the form or in WhatsApp. When you press Accept, we store that choice and its date in your browser for 12 months, so that we do not ask on every page; after 12 months, or if the notice changes, we ask again. To withdraw your consent, delete the cookies and site data for this website in your browser settings (look for “Privacy” or “Cookies and site data”, then choose this website), and the cookie notice will appear again. You can also contact us through the Contact page.

Searching and comparing courses

Search and Compare run in your browser, using a small file of university, course and guide listings that is downloaded when you open the page. What you type into search, and which courses you choose to compare, are never sent to us: they stay in your browser and in the page's address, so a comparison link can be shared.

When you tap a WhatsApp button

We note that the button was used: the page you were on, which university or course it was about, and the time. That record does not contain your phone number, your message or your IP address.

If you then message us, the conversation happens in WhatsApp, under WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy. Our advisors can see your phone number and what you write.

When you send us an enquiry through the form

This applies only when the enquiry form is available on the Contact page. The form asks for:

  • your full name, your WhatsApp number and your e-mail address;
  • your nationality, the course you would like to study, and your study level and preferred intake (or “Not sure yet”);
  • optionally: a message, and the university you have in mind;
  • the page you were on and any referral code or campaign label on the link you used;
  • a record that you agreed to this notice, and which version of it.

The security check on the form

Nobody likes spam, and a public form attracts a lot of it. To keep it out, the enquiry form uses a light security check from Cloudflare called Turnstile. It simply confirms that a real person is filling in the form, and there are no puzzles or pictures to solve.

To do this, a small script from Cloudflare runs in your browser while the form is open. It looks at technical details such as your IP address and browser type, and it may keep a small note in your browser to remember that the check went fine. Cloudflare handles that information under its own privacy policy, and we never see it. We only receive a yes or no.

What we do not keep

We do not store IP addresses or identity document numbers in our enquiry records.

How we use your information

To answer your questions, suggest study options that fit what you told us, and help you apply. To keep a record of our conversation with you. To count enquiries in totals where small groups are left out.

We rely on the consent you give when you submit an enquiry, and on taking the steps you ask us to take before you apply to a university, as the basis for this use of your information.

Who we share it with

With the universities or language centres you ask us to contact or apply to, and with the service providers that run this website and our records — currently Cloudflare (hosting and security) and Supabase (database). These providers may process data outside Malaysia as part of their global infrastructure. Google also receives the technical details described under “Google advertising” and “Google Analytics” above. We do not share your information for any other purpose, and we never sell it.

How long we keep it

We keep your enquiry and WhatsApp conversation records for as long as you are actively applying through us, and for 24 months after our last contact with you, unless a longer period is required by law or you ask us to delete it sooner.

Your choices and rights

You may ask us to access, correct or delete the information we hold about you by contacting us at info@zawqariedu.com. Our records support erasing an enquiry on request.

Children

Our service is intended for prospective students aged 17 and above, since Malaysian universities generally only formally register a student once they turn 18. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must consent before you use our enquiry service.
